South-Boston as industrial and residential district

This studio explores change. What are the forces which instigate that change and how does the city respond? A telescopic lens is applied on understanding of the scales and factors which play on the growth and densification of the region. By comparing patches of urban fabric ‐ local and global, historical and proposed ‐ the studio grounds the work in understanding the underlying logics and formal structure in order to crystallize, sharpen and from there, transform. Each transformation then gets tested against select measures of indeterminacy and contingency to develop methods of design responsive to the dynamic composition of the urban territory.
